The story of a hunter who becomes the hunted. This man is named Rainsford who is heading to Rio. He is passing a mysterious island known as Ship-Trap Island. This island even seems to frighten Rainsford's partner Mr. Witney who says that the island has a bad reputation. He seems to not mind the presence of the island and focuses on hunting the jaguar in Rio. All seems well until he falls overboard after hearing a gun shot in the night. Rainsford desperately swims onto the island. On Ship-Trap Island he meets an eerie hunter, General Zaroff who is tired of hunting animals so he decided to make a game based upon hunting humans. Zaroff wishes to hunt with Rainsford. Rainsford refuses; however, is left with no choice but to join this game after being threatened to be killed by Ivan, Zaroff's bodyguard, and finding out that there are dogs that will hunt him if he tries to escape. Rainsford is given 3 nights to outwit Zaroff and Rainsfords sets up traps. Zaroff notices these traps but decides to leave Rainsford for another night since Rainsford is experienced and this makes the game interesting for Zaroff. These eventually traps capture and kill Ivan and some of the hounds. After 3 days Zaroff tracks Rainsford down and chases him off the cliff. In the end, Rainsford survived and has won the game.
This island has a bad reputation.
What you speak of is murder!
I only hunt the most dangerous game.
Mr. Rainsford, a hunter, is traveling to Rio to hunt the jaguar. His partner, Mr. Witney, tells him that the island they're passing known as Ship-Trap Island is sinister. Rainsford pays no mind. After Witney goes to sleep, Rainsford hears a gun shot and falls overboard.
Mr. Rainsford arrives on the island and meets a highly experienced hunter, General Zaroff. Zaroff explains to Rainsford that he is bored of hunting animals and has made up a game of hunting humans. He gives Rainsford the option to play or be killed by Ivan.
Since Rainsford has no other choice he decides to play this game. He's given 3 days to outwit Zaroff and not get killed. Rainsford sets up traps while Zaroff tracks him down.
Rainsford creates traps. Unfortunately, Zaroff seems to dodge every trap. However, Zaroff decides to leave Rainsford for another night after being wounded. He's impressed with this hunt and doesn't want to kill Rainsford yet.
Zaroff eventually used his blood-thirsty hounds to hunt down; however few were killed by the traps. Even Ivan, was killed by a trap. The hounds chased Rainsford off a clif and into the sea. This made Zaroff believe that Rainsford was dead.
Rainsford survived the fall and Zaroff ; therefore, lost the game. Rainsford won the most dangerous game.
