John is taking his daily walk in the park while a stranger coughs on him as he walks by
infected person: *coughs*
John: *inhales Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria*
Two days later... John is sitting in his room and isn't feeling well
John: "I do NOT feel right. I keep coughing up blood, I have pain in my chest, my whole body is shaking and my skin is pale. I should go to the doctor."
Doctor: "Your symptoms lead me to believe you may have tuberculosis, but I do want to run some tests."
John visits the doctor and tells him his symptoms.
Pathogenesis: The bacteria cell latches onto healthy cells in the lung and triggers an immune response causing macrophages to react and isolate the bacteria from the lungs.
Doctor: "In your case, you have TB you're treatment will be to take antibiotics (Isoniazid & Pyrazinamide) .
If John hadn't have seen the doctor and finished his medications, his TB would have led to disabilities or death.
John is able to live his normal life and continue his daily walks in the park after he finishes his medication regiment that was prescribed to him.
