Storyboard Text

  • John is taking his daily walk in the park while a stranger coughs on him as he walks by
  • infected person:  *coughs*
  • John: *inhales Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria*
  • Two days later... John is sitting in his room and isn't feeling well
  • John: "I do NOT feel right. I keep coughing up blood, I have pain in my chest, my whole body is shaking and my skin is pale. I should go to the doctor."
  • Doctor: "Your symptoms lead me to believe you may have tuberculosis, but I do want to run some tests." 
  • John visits the doctor and tells him his symptoms.
  • Pathogenesis: The bacteria cell latches onto healthy cells in the lung and triggers an immune response causing macrophages to react and isolate the bacteria from the lungs.
  • Doctor: "In your case, you have TB you're treatment will be to take antibiotics (Isoniazid & Pyrazinamide) .
  • If John hadn't have seen the doctor and finished his medications, his TB would have led to disabilities or death.
  • John is able to live his normal life and continue his daily walks in the park after he finishes his medication regiment that was prescribed to him.
