Storyboard Text

  • A Stroll Down Rebecca St.
  • Yes...I suppose she was the most beautiful creature I ever saw in my life."
  • Was Rebecca beautiful?
  • Love is Shattered
  • You dress sloppy sometimes and you act like she's on a job interview when she meets people.
  • I'm shy and I can't do anything about it. I feel like everybody is scrutinizing me, like some kind of show piece.
  • Rebecca's True Colors
  • Who are you talking about?
  • You have angel eyes. You're different than the other one.
  • In this scene, Mrs. de Winter is coming back from talking to the Bishop and his wife about Rebecca. As the chauffeur is driving Mrs. de Winter through the gates at Mandereley , she sees Frank Crawley walking up ahead. She asks the chauffeur to drop her off, and she walks with Frank. Mrs. de Winter sees this as an opportunity to ask questions about Rebecca. Mrs. de Winter ask questions about the cabin, Ben, how Rebecca died, but she also tells him how she is feeling. She pours her heart out to him by telling him all her insecurities.
  • Mrs. Danvers' New Friend
  • I'm surprised Maxim left you alone here, somebody might come and take you away.
  • Okay....?
  • In this scene, Mrs. de Winter decides to arranger her new art books on the book shelves. She starts putting them on the shelf, and then 'crash', she knocked off a 'little china cupid'. Scared, Mrs. de Winter puts the broken pieces in an envelope and stashes it in her desk drawer. The next day, Frith tells Maxim that Mrs. Danvers accused Robert of stealing the cupid. After that, Mrs. de Winter confesses to breaking the cupid and Maxim thinks she is frightened of the servants. Maxim and Mrs. de Winter begin to talk about how they are feeling.
  • Forbidden Words
  • I was the only maid who could ever satisfy Rebecca.
  • Mrs. de Winter decides to take advantage of Maxim leaving and goes to check out the cabin. She encounters Ben who is scared and hiding. Mrs. de Winter says that it's okay and he shouldn't be scared. They come out of the boathouse, and Ben terrified, asks her if she won't put him in the asylum. This shocks Mrs. de Winter and she assures him that she will definitely not put him in an asylum. He begins to describe Rebecca as a snake who threatened to throw him in the asylum. He wants to know if she is gone for good. Mrs. de Winter was terrified so she runs home.
  • Meeting the In-laws
  • So how's Rebecca?
  • In this scene, we are introduced to a new character, Jack Favell. Mrs. de Winter has just come back from her cabin visit and is surprised to see an unfamiliar car in the driveway. She makes eye contact with a man in the morning room in which Mrs. Danvers quickly shuts the blinds. Mrs. de Winter hides behind a door to let him leave without any encounter. Jasper then, excitedly greets the man, and blows her cover. They exchange a few interesting, mysterious, and strange words. When he leaves, he asks her to keep their words a secret from Maxim.
  • Mrs. de Winter decides to go into Rebecca's room and explore. She is looking through all her stuff, until she sees a terrifying Mrs. Danvers breathing on her face. She notices that Mrs. Danvers is acting 'too sweet' and using a phony voice. Mrs. Danvers realizes what Mrs. de Winter wants so she gave her a tour of the room. After that, Mrs. Danvers begins to tell her the forbidden story of Rebecca's death. While telling her all the details, Mrs. Danvers is digging her nails into Mrs. de Winter's arm. As her story ended, they exited the loveliest room in Manderley.
  • In this scene, Beatrice decides to invite Mrs. de Winter to meet Maxim and her grandmother. They arrive to her house and Beatrice reminds her that the grandmother is blind. Mrs. de Winter is warmly welcomed by the grandmother. They begin to talk about Mrs. de Winter. Shortly after, due to the grandmother's old age, the grandmother begins to ask for Rebecca. The grandmother is now talking about how great Rebecca is and how much she liked her. They both feel it is the right time to leave. Beatrice apologizes for this episode of discomfort.
