In her best known work, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, (1792), Mary Wollstonecraft claims that the perceived idea that women are inferior to women is not due to any sort of natural inferiority, but rather to women's lack of access to education.
Brought up by an abusive father, she left home and dedicated herself to a life of writing. While working as a translator to Joseph Johnson, a publisher of radical texts, she published her most famous work, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman. She died 10 days after her second daughter, Mary, was born.
Wollstonecraft's lasting place in the history of philosophy rests upon A Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792). In this classical feminist text, she appealed to egalitarian social philosophy as the basis for the creation and preservation of equal rights and opportunities for women
