  • Me!
  • Okay class, time to turn in homework from last night. Who did their homework?
  • Me!!
  • Nigella, Great Job! That's the second time this week you've turned in homework on time! Don't you notice that when you do the homework the classroom discussion is so much more interesting? You can be so much more engaged, and I've really seen that this week. Keep up the good work!
  • Thanks Ms. Ott. Yeah, class is so much more fun!
  • And Poindexter, thank you for being so consistent with turning in your homework on time. I always know I can count on you.
  • Thanks, Ms. Ott.
  • Later in class ....
  • Very insightful, Poindexter! I can tell you are really zero-ing in on the character development of Atticus. You're obviously getting really into it - Thank you for that. Does anyone else want to share something about Atticus?
  • And Atticus Finch blah blah blah ...
  • Excellent point, Nigella!Although our character journals focus on just one character, it's awesome to see you going above and beyond to analyze others in detail. It really makes the plot make sense, doesn't it?
  • I'm not analyzing Atticus in my character journal, but I did notice in last night's reading blah blah blah ....
  • I'm so glad you're finding it interesting, Nigella. I wouldn't pick a bad book for you, would I?? (laugh) So happy to see you guys so engaged and really getting into it. The more effort you put it, the more you'll get out ... of anything in life!
  • Yes it does! Now that I'm actually reading it, this book is really good!
