  • Mexico welcomes Anglo- immagrants
  • We will not follow your rules!
  • Follow our Rules!!
  • 1835 New Dictator
  • He is our dictator? 
  • I am the new dictator!
  • Battle of Gonzales
  • Come And Take It
  • Give us that cannon before the army gets here!
  • They welcomed them in to hope they would become loyal Mexican citizens and keep their territory from falling into the hands of the US. They continued to speak English, form own schools, and had close relationships with Mexico.
  • Battle of the Alamo
  • We are taking over!
  •  Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna became dictator. This happened because he overthrew the constitution and his actions towards the "American" Texans was rude and unfair. 
  • Battle of San Jacinto 
  • This is going to be our town!
  • This battle was when the Texans led a cannon into an open field and fired, but this cannon was spiked. The Mexicans thought this was a real cannon ball coming out but really only gun powder.  The significance of this battle was the cannon and them saying, "Come and Take it."
  • Texas Statehood
  • Welcome to Texas!
  • This battle was when the Texans overwhelmed the Mexican army at the Alamo and captured the fort. The defenders of the Alamo, prepared for the battle. Mexican forces the broke through and overpowered them. This battle was a symbol of heroic resistance and cry for independence for the Texans. 
  • This is our fort!
  • After gaining independence, Mexico welcomed the Texans over and soon got overpopulated. Mexico was trying to get rid of the Americans, but the Americans took this the wrong way and led to rebellion. The Texans defeated the Mexican army in the last 18 minutes. 
  • In December of 1845 Texas became an official state. The likelihood of Texas becoming a slave state delayed for more of a decade.
