- During this scene mother and daughter suyuan and Jing-Mei woo give up on their dream of Jing-Mei being a TV star and instead focus on being a pianist
- In this scene Jing-Mei woo is taking piano lessons by Mr. Chong, in hopes of being a good piano player. Although Mr. Chong is deaf he was astonished by her playing of the keys.
- During this scene LIndo Jong and Suyuan Woo were arguing after church and comparing both of their daughters and comparing both of their different accomplishments.
- During this scene Jing-Mei is performing while playing piano and was very confident, as she was playing she knew she messed up and played the wrong note because it did not sound right .
- During this scene JIng-Mei has finished her performance and the Joy Luck club members go up to her and waverly tells Jing-Mei that she wasnt a genius. JIng-Meis mother was also devestated because of the performance she messed up and she stayed quiet.
- During this scene it has been many years since she last played and many months since Jing-Meis mother has passed. She sent the piano to be refurbished and she came acorss the book of notes that she used during her performance. She soon discovered that the two pages of the notes formed two halves of the same song.
