Storyboard Text

  • Everyone knew about what had happened in Paris with the shooting of a German. Every Jew was afraid of what was going to happen.
  • I'll come with you to the station.
  • I'm going to work today.
  • We made it to the railroad station, but a Gestapo officer approached us.
  • What is in your bags?
  • Search his bags.
  • Come with us. You are under arrest.
  • Nothing.
  • In the interrogation room, they asked me many questions.
  • They eventually let me go.
  • I met up with my dad and our local rabbi's son at the station. He had told us some shocking news.
  • WHAT?!
  • The temple back home is burning.
  • I ran home as fast as I could.
  • When I got there, I saw the kids carrying Torahs out of the temple. I went to help them.
  • Inside, I saw a Gestapo officer with lit matches.
  • Why?
  • Don't ask questions unless you want to die.
  • Come with me. You are under arrest.
  • Later that day, a Gestapo officer came to my house.
  • They put me in a jail cell with other Jews. I was separated from my family and alone.
  • After some time, they took me out.
  • We went without food or water for days.
  • They put me in a car, and I didn't know where I was gonna go next.
