Your son will either become a king who unites all of India or he will become a religious leader.
I will make sure my son becomes king.
But I need to get into the village...
You need to leave, the king and prince are coming and your sick.
In need of medicine because I am about to die...
In need of money and food! I am homeless and just lost my job.
Siddhartha Gautama, who is now known as Budda, was a prince throughout his life. The fortuneteller had predicted two things...Siddhartha's father did everything he could for his son to become king.
Siddhartha was raised in a wealthy and healthy lifestyle. Throughout his life, his father did not want him to see the outside world or what people suffer from. Wherever Siddhartha went, there were guards that would go and make sure there were no "sick" or "old" people on the streets.
On one day, Siddhartha decided to go out without any guards. He saw sickness, death, poor and old people. He realized that he was not told the whole truth about life and all the joy inside him had died.
I am not a god. I am like everyone else except to awaken the world.
Siddhartha wanted to search for the truth about life. He put himself into the position of an assetic and denied himself all comforts. He began to join a group of gurus and they taught him salvation. His body couldn't take it anymore and he got very weak.
He renewed his strength and started his search again. He sat under a tree to meditate for 49 days! He was visited by the God of desire and death. Siddhartha went into deeper meditation and saw all of his past lives.
His purpose in life is to awaken the world. He taught people how to escape the cycle of death and re-birth. He died at the age of 80 along with his wise last words.
