I wanted to volunteer in the Revolutionary War but I had to get permission from my owner William Armistead, to make sure it was fine for me to voulunteer. I have to get permission because I am a slave and I need to make sure the things I do are up to Mr. Armistead's likings.
Can I please volunteer in the Revolutionary war Mr. Armistead.
I spied on them every day I listened to everything they said about their weapons, where they were going to hide, and most importantly which sides they would try to sneak up on. When they were off doing something or asleep I would go back to the Patriots and tell them all of the information I have gathered.
We are gonna have to use these weapons they will never see it coming.
This was important for the Revolution because the British would have never given up because I gave the Patriots a lot of top secret information and it made the British easier to defeat. I risked my life only cause I gave hope into thinking that I was going to get set free for everything I did for the Patriots.
I got set free in 1787 by Marquis de Lafayette because he was outraged that I was still a slave after everything I have done for the Patriots, so he sent a letter to the Virginia legislature saying that I should be set free beause of all i did for the Patriots and risking my life for them.
