A young boy was chosen to run back to Athens, 26 miles away and deliver the news of the Greek victory. Sadly once he delivered the news he died of exhaustion.
The Battle of Thermopylae
The Battle of Thermopylae was fought in a mountion pass. The gigantic Persian army fought against the 300 Spartans lead by Leonidas. Even though it was a Persian victory it inspired other Greeks to fight.
Sadly all of the 300 Spartans were killed during the battle including Leonidas. But many of the Persians were also killed.
The Persians were led by Xerxes.The Athenian navy was led by ThemistoclesThe Greek ships were nimbler and were able to monomer faster. Which gave them the advantage. Over the bulkier Persian ships.
The battle was a Greek victory and the battle ended the Persian war.
