While John White left to get more supplies in England he was held back because the Navy needed to use his ship. The Navy told John that they only needed his ship for a couple of months, but instead of a couple of months he was stuck in England for three years. While John was in England he remembered that it was his granddaughter's third birthday. My theory why there was no one on The Lost Colony of Roanoke, is that all the colonists went to a secret island that had more riches and supplies that nobody knew about. I also think that they built a secret fort there that nobody knew about until now. When John White went back to the lost colony three years later the colony was gone. He looked around everywhere for any signs if they were hurt or got captured by the spanish, but there were not any signs. Except for a carved word on a tree that said croatoan.
This is my imagination of the fort that they built on their "secret" island.
This is what I imagine there houses looked like that they made with the little supplies that they had at the time.
These colonists are John White's daughter and her husben also there daughter who is John Whites granddaughter. in their new cottage.
This change made John White confused and he never could find his colony again because there was a big piece missing in his evidence.
My Summary: One day a group of sailors for England found a lost island and they named it for the queen. They named the island The Lost Colony of Roanoke. The sailors sailed home to England and the queen asked them to return to the island for one year. The sailors returned to the island but after 10 months, they were running extremely low on supplies and beginning to starve. Sir Frances Drake, who discovered that the world was not flat by sailing around the world, stopped by the island and gave them more supplies. He then took the colonists back to England. Queen Elizabeth sent more colonists to the island with supplies that only lasted a few months. John White, the governor of the island colony, sailed back to England for more supplies. He had to stay in England for 3 years because the Navy was using all of the ships during the war between the Spanish and the English. While he was in England, the remaining colonists were either captured or left for another island. John White never saw the colonists again.
