  • Magna Carta
  • We obey the laws and the customs!
  • The Glorious Revolution
  • The English Bill of Rights 1689
  • I am inflicting taxes and suspending Parliaments laws!!
  • The Magna Carta was written in Latin, it had 63 sections. The Magna Carta meant the Great Charter. The Magna Carta was created to keep peace with King John and the Barons.On June 1215 the Magna Carta was created. It is a powerful sign of liberty all around the world. It was made part of English's law.
  • Town Meetings
  • WE DO!!
  • It was a peaceful transfer of power from King James II being removed and then to William and Mary promising to govern England according to the laws. It brought the Glorious Revolution. King James II was struggling for power and William and Mary they were the ones that took over. It is important because William and Mary agreed to follow the laws and customs.
  • Mercantilism
  • More money more power more silver and gold more power!
  • What?
  • To set good limits on a ruler's power the Parliament the English Bill of Rights, in 1689. The Bill of Rights said that a ruler couldn't suspend Parliament's laws or inflict taxes. Or raise an army without the Parliament's consent. Parliament members had to be freely elected.
  • Navigation Acts
  • Sell to us!
  • Town people began discussing issues at these town meetings. They developed into local governments, land owners cold vote and pass laws. Town meetings helped to  set the stage for the American Revolution.
  • We have issues!
  • To get power and wealth you have to build you gold and silver supplies. That is Mercantilism. To achieve this a country must export and sell to other countries more than it imports. A country must also seek colonies, which could supply raw materials and serve as amarket for exports. 
  • Navigation Acts were passed to control trade, in the 1650s. The Acts tried to direct the flow of goods between England and the colonies. These laws forced colonists to sell their raw materials to England even if they got a better price somewhere else.
  • WHY?
