  • No Deal.
  • Angrier and Angrier
  • Stop the raids on our farm!
  • Jackson can help!
  • I need you to stop the raids. But you may not invade Florida.
  • Of course, anything for our country.
  • Jefferson sent two diplomats to Spain to buy Florida, Spain declined the offer.
  • The Invasion
  • Lock this man up!
  • Slave owners were angry about the slaves escaping to Florida and the Seminoles raiding their land.
  • Afraid of War
  • I don't want war.
  • President James Monroe wanted hero Andrew Jackson to stop the raids, but told him that he did not have the authority to invade Florida.
  • The Agreement
  • You can govern Texas, if we can have Florida
  • It's a deal!
  • Despite what Monroe ordered, Jackson invaded Florida with his troops and arrested, executed, and replaced the Spanish. Spain demanded Jackson to be sent back to the U.S. and thrown in jail.
  • Both Americans and the Spanish didn't want war. So they both crossed out the option to fight each other.
  • Fearing war, America came up to an agreement where Spain would govern Texas but America would have control over Florida.
