"A few months before I graduated high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. My parents and friends were not too thrilled with my decision because they thought it would put me in harms way. Never the less, they came around and were proud of my decision to serve my country. Leaving my small town in south Alabama, was not a desire of mine, but I wanted to do my part and serve this country.
On September 22nd of 2013, I left that small town in Alabama on a bus headed to Paris Island, South Carolina. I had three, not so short months ahead of me that would be full of intense mind and body tests that I would need to pass to complete basic training. After those months passed, I earned the title of Marine and got to go home to see my family for a few days before I went to back to training."
** I remixed the beginning portion of my MA1 to give the audience an overview of the timeline of entry into the Marine Corps. I made it as basic and visually pleasing as possible so that readers could easily understand the information without being confused. The audience here would be the reader that was interested in the timeline of dates before I started my career as a Marine. These dates were the backbone and the start of my journey that I went on to talk about in the rest of MA1.
