Execution Of Marie Antoinette

Storyboard Text

  • Did Marie Antoinette know the extent of the poverty of her nation, or was she oblivious.?
  • What led the revolution do accuse and charge Marie Antoinette so extremely?
  • “I thought that human nature would excuse me from answering such an imputation, but I appeal from it to the heart of every mother here present.”
  • Why were people so enthusiastic about watching the execution of their queen?
  • “Adieu, once again, my children, I go to rejoin your father."
  • Mare Antoinette was the wife of King Louis XVI and the last queen of France. She was known for her elaborate hairstyles and lifestyle in a time when most  her country was in poverty. She became a symbol of the monarchy's exorbitance of spending during the French Revolution.
  • After the trial and execution of her husband, Marie Antoinette was tried for treason, theft, and sexual abuse against her son. She was found guilty of treason and theft. She was sentenced to death by the french killing machine, the guillotine. This was a representation on how accusation with abuse of power can go to far and accuse a mother of abusing her own son.
  • Marie Antoinette was executed, by guillotine, on the 16th of October, after the reign of terror, and nine months after her husband's execution. She was first paraded around France in an open carriage, so that people could jeer her. She remained brave during her last minutes. This is a representation of how the end of an old government is not always the start of a better one.
