Hello , my name is Augustus Felix and I am a Legionary. Have you ever asked yourself what the life style of a roman soldier is like? Well good, because today I am going to teach you all about it!
Ow stop pushing
Welcome to my barrack. It is four meters squared and I live with 20 other men. Our beds are narrow and hard with rough blankets.
Yes! 300 more denarii and I will be able to buy a new sword. Oh by the way, this is my chest with my denarii. Denarii is the roman currency. We legionaries get paid 300 denarri each year, but we got to buy our food, clothes, and weapons, so I don't gamble like my fellow legionaries...
Here are my prices for my food, clothes, etc... Amphora (Huge jar) of wine= 300 sestertii Half liter of salt= 8 denarii Half kilo of pork= 12 denarii Female slave= 2,000-6,000 denarii
Sometimes when we go camping, we have to sleep in tents. These tents are made of goatskin and are really strong and waterproof, but they are really stinky!
In our bags, we carry a lot of things. a gladius (a sword), 2 pila’s (2 spike’s), and a Scutum (a shield) that weigh 20 kilos. Soldiers also carry a backpack containing food, water, and clothes. It's raining, come on!
Rain? Now? Damn
Roman soldiers train a lot! They learn how to swim, climb, walk a lot with heavy backpacks, fight, and much more things! Here me and my fellow soldiers are training our swimming skills!
