  • Central and Allied powers
  • The spark that caused the WW1 in Europe was the death of Archduke Ferdinand. While driving to a hospital, Ferdinands wheel popped. While trying to fix it, a mandriving behind them shot both him and his driver.
  • New Technology/ Trench Warfare
  • The sinking of the Lusitania was when a German U- boat shot a missile at a ship, and many people died. This led the U.S into war because it was our ship. This caused the U.S to be dragged into war.
  • The Armistice
  • The Alliance system was when countries join forces work together to achieve a certain goal. The countries that were on the Allied side was Russia, France, Italy, Great Britain, Portugal, and the U.S. The countries on the central powers was Germany, Austria Hungary, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
  • The Treaty of Paris
  • Some new technology used in World War 1 were tanks, flamethrowers, and poison gas. The conditions of trench warfare were terrible. Many people got disease, trench foot, and lice. When people died they would stack them and they would be a barrier in front of the trenches.
  • The Armistice occurred on November 11th, 1918. This occurred because Germany was weak. Germany was forced to surrender. Germany was also forced to end their treaty with Russia and hand over their U-boats.
  • Wilson's 14 points was a peace plan to try to prevent future wars. The League of Nations was to provide a forum for resolving international disputes. Germany was punished because we took away territory on Germany's border.
