Storyboard Text

  • I am starting in  March of 1848. I am taking my wife,Betty, and my children; Clorice, Bob, and Sarah.
  • At the market, I bought a set of clothing for everyone, two yokes, 400 pounds of food, five boxes of ammunition, two wagon wheels, one wagon axle, and one wagon tongue.  I spent only $270!
  • Hello everyone! My name is John and I am a farmer from Illinois about to go on the Oregon trail.
  • We have to cross rivers and there are different options you can decide. You pick based on how deep and wide the river is. Not everyone makes it across.  We lost five sets of clothing,1 wagon wheel, 105 pounds of food, and one oxen. Most importantly we lost our daughter, Clorice.
  • We have to hunt animals to keep our rations full. If we do not hunt we will run out of food and starve.
  • We trade with indians on the way. They tell us about what is ahead and about what people have told them.
  • We have to cross many mountain ranges and they can be very dangerous. Illness also spreads killing my wife, Betty, and my daughter Sarah.
  • Eventually this long journey ends. We finally make it to Oregon even though its just me and my son, Bob. We will mourn our loses and make a new life for us here.
