This chapter shows you how hungry the people in the camps were. Also in this chapter it gives you details on how everyone felt when they were finally released. It also shows you how Wiesel felt about himself when he saw his reflection. The SS officers in this chapter were late but when they finally showed up they started letting everyone out in groups.Come to find out the Americans were coming.
The Jews loaded on a cargo train to go to one of the camps. When they were getting closer to the camp a woman kept yelling "Fire! Fire!" When they women kept yelling it made everyone on the cargo mad. With everyone getting mad this made the SS officers even more harsh. But in this chapter you saw how the Jews were treated on the cargo rides and how little food they got.
The Angel of Death is known as a man names Dr. Mengele. Usually when Jews go see him they don't come back alive. So when Wiesel had to go see him he was sure he was going to die so early on in the journey. This chapter portrays Wiesel's true feelings. When he thought he was going to die he said a prayer of death and accepted what was coming next.
