Muhammad was born in 570 CE in the center of Mecca of the Hejaz territory of Arabia. His clan – Hashim, belonged to an important tribe – Quraish.
Muhammad’s father, Abdullah, had died while his mom was still pregnant, and his mother, Aminah, also passed away in 576 CE, when he was only 6 years old. His grandfather, Abd al Mutalib, then assumed the responsibility of raising him, but he also died two years later.
Once he was grown, he managed a caravan busines owned by a wealthy woaman named Khadijah . At 25 years, Muhammad married Khadijah.
In 610 CE, when Muhammad was about 40 years old, he went to a cave to pray. The religious writing says that angel Gabriel appears to him and told him RECITE! RECITE! .
He asked what he should recite and the angel answered."Recite in the name of your lord who created ,created man from clots of blood! recite! your lords is the moust bountiful one, who by the pen tught man what he did not know."
In 613 CE, Muhammad began to spread his messages among the Arabian Peninsula. He taught there was only one God, Allah.
