Bolshevik Revolution. Communist uprisings began in Russia due to the cost of the war and the number of deaths, as well as a continuation of the 1905 Decemberist Revolt and resentment of the monarchy
National Self-Determination. The idea that group of people had the right to have their own nation and choose their future. Promoted by Woodrow Wilson, lead to independent Poland, Turkey etc.
Palestine. Formerly part of the Ottoman Empire, it was promised to both Arabs and Jew by the United Kingdom, leading to later conflict.
New Deal. An economic strategy promoted by Roosevelt to end the Great Depression, with large scale public works to employ people, and establishing Social Security and welfare programs
Import Substitution Industrialization. A policy which promoted greater self-production of goods instead of dependence on western imports. It often came with authoratarianism, and tariffs and state-run enterprises.
Democratic Socialism. The adoption of social policies, like social welfare and equality, through democratic means and congress.
