Teacher, do whatever we ask of You. Whatever we say and command of you, you are to do
What do you want me to do for you? How can I help? I will do for you what I have the power to do.
In your glory, let each of us sit at Your right and at Your left, one on each.
You don’t know what you are asking. I do not have the power to grant one of you to sit at my right and the other at my left. Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?
You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.
This is not fair!
You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over to them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
We must serve you to get whatever we want?
I have dedicated my life to serve you, my people. You will do the same.
Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
