In greece, the God Zeus and the Goddess Demeter had a daughter named Persephone. She was a lovely girl and all the men wanted to be with her. Her mother though was very protective.
Why didn't you tell me this!
One day, Hades, the God of the Underworld asked Demeter if he could be her daughter's husband. Demeter said no and was very angry at Hades. Hades wasn't happy and he thought that he was going to have Persephone one way or another.
Eat this, it will make you feel better.
One day, while Persephone was picking flowers with her friends, she saw a beautiful flower. When she went to pick it up, the earth started to crumble and Hades came with his chariot to grab Persephone. It happened so fast that Persephone's friends didn't know what had happened. Zeus and Helios had witnessed the incident.
Mother, I want to live with Hades in the Underworld.
Demeter soon received the news about her daughter. She was very sad about the incident. She couldn't stand there waiting so she went to look for help. First she went to a Goddess and after she went to Helios. Helios said That it wasn't such a bad idea if Hades married Persephone. That didn't help Demeter and she left to talk with Zeus.
I am very sorry, Demeter!
Zeus told her what happened. Demeter asked Zeus why he hadn't told her. Zeus decided to make an agreement with his brother. Hades agreed. when he went to the Underworld, he gave Persephone some pomegranate seeds. These seeds would make her miss life in the Underworld. When the gathering took place, the asked Persephone where she wanted to live.
Thank you Hades.
Persephone told her mother that she wanted to live with his husband. Zeus came up with another agreement. Those six months that Persephone wasn't with Demeter she made Earth cold and lonely. Those were the seasons of Autumn and Winter. When Persephone was with Demeter she made Earth sunny. Those were the seasons of Spring and Summer.
No, Persephone please come back! You will pay for this Hades!!!
