  • Montag describes how he feels whenever he burns the books and how it makes him feel that his job as a firefighter is special.
  • "It was a pleasure to burn. It was a special pleasure to see things blackened and changed. With the brass nozzle in his fists" (Bradbury 1).
  • "Then he reached up and pulled back the grill of the air conditioning system and reached far back inside and to the right and moved still another sliding sheet of metal and took out a book" (62 Bradbury)
  • Mildred finds out about all of the books that Guy Montag had been reading and hiding
  • "They turned to stare at the door and the books toppled everywhere,everywhere in heaps." (Bradbury 64)
  • Captain Beatty shows up to Montags house while there are books all over the house."
