It was early in the 1800's, a child named Frederick Douglass is working on his masters plantation as slave. He is a bright young slave and has many questions as to why he must work all the time.
One day Frederick is requested by his master to be sent to a family in Baltimore named the Auld's.
The lord is my light and salvation. whom shall I call.
The next day Frederick is sent to Baltimore. When he arrived he was introduced to the Auld Family. There is Mr. Auld, Ms. Auld, and Thomas. They were a family that was knew to slavery and hadn't ever had a slave before Frederick. Since he was their first slave they didn't understand that he wasn't supposed to be treated well.
Mrs. Auld taught Frederick to read, write, and sing the ABC's. She was a teacher and a mother to him at some times since he never really knew his real mother. The Auld's gave him shelter, food, and let him inside their house as many other slaves wouldn't be aloud to.
The next day Mr. Auld was sitting at his desk. Mrs. Auld said "Hey Mr. Auld look what Freddy can do!". Mrs. Auld did not know she wasn't supposed to be teaching Frederick so she got in trouble. Mr. Auld got as mad as a father scolding a child at Mrs. Auld. All Frederick could hear was things being thrown in anger. BOOM! CRASH! the sound of thousands of pieces of glass breaking.
