Storyboard Text

  • Persephone is the beloved daughter of Zeus and Demeter.  Zeus is the god of the sky and Demeter is the goddess of agriculture.  Demeter tried to protect Persephone by keeping all men away from her.
  • Persephone was especially kept away from Hades, the god of the Underworld and Persephone's most persistent suitor.  Hades was a man who lived in the dark among the shadows of the dead but he often softened when he saw Persephone.
  • Hades asked Demeter if he could marry her daughter.  Demeter was furious, she never wanted Hades near her daughter Persephone.  Demeter said that there would never be any chance for that to happen.
  • Hades was heartbroken after he asked for Demeter's blessing.  Hades wanted to get Persephone no matter what it would take.
  • One day when Persephone was in a field with her friends picking flowers.  She bent down to pick one and the ground opened beneath her feet.
  • In the space in the ground, Hades was in a chariot with black horses.  He came out of the ground and grabbed the young girl before she had a chance to shout for help.
