Storyboard Text

  • Gerbils Variation and Natural Selection by Edvard Roberts
  • Wild gerbils live in harsh conditions such as a barren desert, to survive they must adapt.
  • Those who have the slightest advantage survive and reproduce passing on their helpful genes
  • When an organism mutates and its fur color changes, that can make it harder for predators to catch it. This gives it an advantage allowing it to have more offspring and eventually  the whole population will be that color.
  • Why do some animals get advantages and others not?
  • Genetics
  • Gerbil populations' fur varies according to what habitat they live in. If they live in the desert they would have yellow fur.
  • Many different gerbil populations have developed many helpful traits, this is due to variation.
  • leads to
  • Predators not seeing them letting them survive and reproduce
  • Where did he go ?
  • Another weird trait they have is that their tails fall off if grabbed by the predator.
