Storyboard Text

  • The Battle of Little Bighorn was a victory for the Native Americans. In 1868 the Sioux was guaranteed the "Great Sioux Reservation"
  • Hopefully the white men never come back here. I am not sure we can win another battle like that.
  • Let's dance and celebrate!
  • I am so happy we get to keep our home!
  • The federal government then outlawed the Native Americans sacred Sun Dance in 1884.
  • Please let my people celebrate our culture.
  • Then the Battle of Wounded Knee happened in 1890. In this battle, an estimated 200 Native American men, women, and children were killed.
  • Then the Dawes Severalty Act was put in place. This wiped out tribal ownership of land, and set up Indian family heads. They were given 160 acres.
  • Reservation land was then sold to white settlers and for railroads.
  • Now everyone is happy in the West!
  • Let's get this train going.
