Storyboard Text

  • The Veldt By: Ray Bradbury
  • The Lion Children
  •           Imagery
  • Simile
  • Celeste De La Rosa 6th period
  • Hyperbole
  • Please don't take the nursery away from us!!
  • "Your mouth was filled with the dusty smell of their heated fur." This sentence gives you the sense of taste and smell of the lions under the heat of Africa. This is imagery since it uses two of the five senses and gives you a picture of it in your head.
  • Personification
  • "The yellow of the lions and the summer grass was in your eyes like a picture in a expensive French wall hanging." This is a simile because it uses the word 'like' and is comparing the lions and the summer grass to an expensive painting hanging on French wall which gives you the sense that the image was just to real.
  • Metaphor
  • "They live for the nursery'' This is a hyperbole because they aid they LIVE for an inanimate object when everyone just lives because their heart is beating and their breathing.
  • "I don't know- I don't know," she said, blowing her nose, sitting down in a chair that immediately began to rock and comfort her." This is personification because a chair cannot 'comfort' a person. A chair is inanimate and doesn't have the capacity to comfort a human being.
  • ""But now, is yellow hot Africa, this bake oven with murder in the heat." This is a metaphor because it is saying that Africa is a bake oven with a smell of murder in the air. It gives you the image and smell of how the parents saw and felt Africa and their feelings towards the new veldt.
