  • Rising Action
  • It's the Roaring 20's, in New York. West Egg (new money), and East Egg (old money). Jay Gatsby (new money) is in love with Daisy Buchanan, but she is married to Tom Buchanan (old money).
  • Climax
  • Gatsby loves Daisy, who is married to Tom. Tom is also having an affair with Myrtle Wilson.
  • Falling Action
  • Gatsby and Daisy reunite for the first time in 5 years, and they begin an affair. Tom becomes suspicious, and Tom and Gatsby get in a big fight about who Daisy truly loves. Daisy chooses Tom, and Gatsby loses his cool.
  • Resolution
  • Daisy and Gatsby take off, and Daisy runs over Myrtle Wilson and kills her. George Wilson kills Gatsby and then himself in revenge for Myrtle's death, because Tom told him that Gatsby killed her, when Gatsby was really just protecting her.
  • A funeral is held for Gatsby, but no one attends except for Nick, Owl Eyes, and Gatsby's father.
  • Nick moves back to the West, and Tom and Daisy move away from East Egg.
