  • You see, I am the first African American to play baseball. I broke the barrier of white and colored people. I played for the Brooklyn Dodgers
  • Sadly, I passed away at age 53 from a heart attack.
  • During my 10 year MLB career, I won the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award in 1947.
  • His lifetime batting average was .311, and he led the Dodgers to six league championships and one World Series victory.
  • This is amazing, this year (1949), I won the batting championship with a 3.42 average and was voted the league’s Most Valuable Player.
