Do you know about proportions?
Yeah, it's when a set of numbers increase and decrease at a similar rate each time.
Can I have an example.
2:1 and 4:2 are proportional since the rate is always going up by 2:1
4x-7=5, numbers, variables and operators used together to show the value of something is an expression
The two sets of numbers are always increasing by the sam amount each time.
So, the numbers are to represent the rate
What is the colon for?
Cleo, you are catching on. Too bad Max isn't listening
the colon is to separate the two numbers and show a rate. On a table, it will be separated by a line. In a graph, it will be plotted differently.
Dexter, what about on an equation
In an equation, if it says x=2y, that is constant. If there is a + after, it isn't.
