Storyboard Text

  • Hey Dexter?
  • Huh?
  • Do you know about proportions?
  • Yeah, it's when a set of numbers increase and decrease at a similar rate each time.
  • Can I have an example.
  • 2:1 and 4:2 are proportional since the rate is always going up by 2:1
  • 4x-7=5, numbers, variables and operators used together to show the value of something is an expression
  • Huh?
  • The two sets of numbers are always increasing by the sam amount each time.
  • So, the numbers are to represent the rate
  • What is the colon for?
  • Cleo, you are catching on. Too bad Max isn't listening
  • the colon is to separate the two numbers and show a rate. On a table, it will be separated by a line. In a graph, it will be plotted differently.
  • Dexter, what about on an equation
  • In an equation, if it says x=2y, that is constant. If there is a + after, it isn't.
