The first process in the carbon cycle takes place from the atmosphere to the plants. This process is most known as photosynthesis
After this carbon moves from the plant to animals through consumption.
Then the carbon moves from decaying plants/organisms and animal waste into the soil

Then the Carbon is released into the air due to respiration or sweat of both animal and plants
Carbon also moves into the atmosphere due to fossil fuels which release nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere. This can be a nutrient in our and water and has a massive affect in global warming
Then finally from the atmosphere into the ocean were the carbon dissolves into the water
