  • The scream, was my own i had been dreaming.
  • Resolution
  • "Enough! I admit the deed!"
  • The climax is the point at which the conflict is resolved and the story outcome is clear, this is also known as the turning point in the story. In this story, the climax is when the narrator sneaks into the old mans room sees the mans eye and kills the old man. " He screamed once - only once. I dragged him onto the floor and pulled the heavy bed over him."
  • The falling action starts to wrap up the story. In this short story the falling action is where the police officers arrived at the house after someone reported that the old man had been heard screaming. "I went down with a light heart. What did i have to fear? Three policemen came in. A neighbor had heard a scream and had gone to the police station"
  • The resolution is the outcome of the conflict. The resolution in this story is where the boy confessed to killing the old man. "The men kept talking and smiling. Was it possible that they did not hear? No. They heard. They knew! They were making fun of my horror!"
