Storyboard Text

  • Hello. What project are we doing today?
  • Hello. Do you see this little egg? Well, this little egg holds many things to help the growth of a developing embryo. An embryo turns into a baby chick. Now, lets see whats on the inside.
  • Chalazae(Keeps embryo in place)
  • Shell Membranes. (Protection)
  • Veins(Keeps blood circulating)
  • Blastoderm(Fertile egg)
  • Embryo!!
  • Air cell.(Where it takes its first breath.)
  • Shell( Protection)
  • Wow.  This is very interesting. What else happens in the egg.
  • Well, the embryo eats the yolk and albumen. Also, it has a 3 day air source it uses at the end of the process, and the whole process will take about 21 days until the hatch date.
  • There is a lot going on in that egg. When does the chick develope  feathers and things like that?
  • Well, on day 12 of incubation, the embryo will start to develope toes and feathers, and the opening of the ear.
  • I do know that when the chick is ready to get out of the egg they use one of there temporary organs called the egg tooth. It eventually falls off after hatch.
  • Yes. Your right.  And, now you must know how to take care of your egg. You must wash your hands before and after handling the eggs.
  • Thank you so much for teaching me this today. This was amazing  and so interesting. I can´t wait to see a little furry chick at the end of this!!
  • Also, you have to check that the temperature is 99.5 to 100.5 degrees F. You must turn the eggs a  odd number of times daily and be gentle with them. You are very welcome!
