McCandless' goal was to live in the wild and find his true self away from his society role played by his parents. He burned any authorization he had of himself and traveled through the united states.
McCandless' biggest goal was to go to Alaska and live off the land. He gave up his life up to the point to pursue this. He started off in the west for some months to be accustomed to the enviroment.
The goal for McCandless to pursue education was mainly his family's. He chose to accomplish their goal to fulfill their goal to please them. In his journey from separating himself, he does share the fact he has a college education.
An important goal for me is to become an orthodontist. I plan on pursuing this by sacrificing my time and peace to maintain my focus on this career goal. In a way i would be doing the opposite from McCandless with my education.
Like McCandless, my ultimate goal is to find myself that would be anywhere I find my peace. I don't necessarily mean I would give up my life to define myself in the wild but I would sacrifice a part of me to be my purest form in however I can.
McCandless reminded me how materialistic things tend to fog our true deep inner self. My goal now is to take breaks throughout my life to not lose my focus. I realized a fresh adventure can help my actual life being busy with staying on track with school. I plan doing so by taking some time off anything that maintained my lifestyle when I need it because it’s okay.
