Storyboard Text

  • I’m so happy I get to go to work!
  • Ma and Pa are counting on us to bring the money home.
  • You’ll wish pretty soon that you were back at school.
  • Look at these kids, working for 12 hours a day, malnourished, with little pay. I will do whatever it takes to let their story be told, through pictures or words.
  • Are you okay Martha? Your fingers got stuck in the machine!
  • Get back to work! You're lucky the machines aren't damaged!
  • Ow! My hand!
  • These kids work with so much glass. It burns their hands. I must get out of here before their boss gets mad at me again!
  • It's so hot in here! But, we get paid by the pieces we make, it is all worth it!
  • Stand right there. What happened to your hand?
  • Nothing. I best get back to work. We have to pay for my brother's funeral.
  • I made 42 cents. Some guy came to take my picture.
  • Good, now eat up. You have to go back to work in a few hours.
  • Eventually, a law was passed, outlawing child labor.
