Mac and Cheese!
What are you having for lunch today?
What even happens when the food enters your mouth??
Did you not pay attention in class this month?
Uhh, no not really.
It starts with your mouth. Your teeth chew up the food and break it down into smaller parts.
The food is broken down into smaller pieces to help in digestion.
Why does the food get wet when I chew?
The saliva that is created in our mouths coat the food making it easier to swallow and also starts to break down carbohydrates.
Ohh, so that's why it got broken down.
Do you remember the lab we did with the saliva and the crackers? The saliva began to break down the carbs in the cracker after sitting in the saliva.
