He person Stuart spends most of his time with seems to be Billy even though Billy is way younger than him, but Stuart treats him like his own brother more of so like how Ray treated Stuart. Ever since he met Lindsay he seems to always push Billy away. "fine," I said in surrender. "but scoot a head of us. I don't want you rolling up on the back of my heels."(Rottman pg196) Billy is important because Stuart has saved his life a few time.
the lowest point for Stuart was that his mother was being deployed out of the base. That the cardinal had to stay with him while his mother is gone. "we are being deployed right away---"she broke off suddenly. "Stuart? are you okay?"(rottman pg139). he still needs to understand that things happen for a reason. may not be what you wanted, but there is a reason.
what brings him back to life is finding Lindsay its taking his mind off of this parents and letting him feel that this place isn't that bad after all. he has accomplished to try not being his brother like letting people in. this book helped me understand that life is too short and to just enjoy and figure out what to enjoy about the place I am at. to also not get so caught up in the family drama and understand both side for the parents. both of them play apart in the issue.
•The reason why I chose this book was because it was about a little boy and his mother being deployed to a new base. This book seemed like what live is now, it's more of so real. Reading to summary I was planning ahead on what was going to happen like his mother and Stuart having a better relationship by the end. Once I started reading this book I already started to enjoy it. I really don't like to read but this book was really good. It reminded me when I starting Baldwin at first. I have lived here my entire life but never went to school. I felt somewhat of a connection to Stuart as of being new and moving a lot. For me I only moved schools but not houses that just because my mother is a principal. His relationship with both of his parents I really didn't understand at first because my parents and I are very close. But it showed me there are truly family issues like in this book in reality. I would definitely recommend this book because it shows what's really happening and shows that being a hero isn't always that hard. Meaning the little things to help out a person can mean the world to them.
the reason we like to hear about heroes is because they are inspiring. its so incredible on how people can come together and make a huge change to their own society or to the world. they are also standing up for what they believe in and for what is right. as we grow older we tend to be more independent which will lead to fight for our self and becoming a hero later on as you realize that you can fight for anyone.
this novel ends with his mother and father figuring everything out. they finally realized that they need to spend sometime together. sometime when their is a situation you need to have more than one person to solve the problem. I learned that you need to understand that everyone has struggles you would think your parents have everything figured out but in reality not every parent has they life planned ahead of them.
