  • The first event that led to the revolution was the French & Indian War. The French and Indian War pitted the colonies of British America against those of New France, each side supported by military units from the parent country and by American Indian allies. It ended up with the the treaty of Paris and Britain with no money. After this the colonists split into Loyalist, Patriots, and neutralists.
  • Then came the Stamp Act. The stamp act imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. It made the colonists very made at their mother country.
  • To make matters worse, Britain came up with the Townshend Acts. The townshend acts placed a tax on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper, and tea. It contributed to the colonists' angry reaction.
  • The Boston Massacre was a street fight were a mob of angry colonists were arguing to some redcoats. The colonists started to throw rocks and shots were fired. It ended up with 7 colonists dead.
  •  When the British placed a tax on tea, the colonists were very mad. So, once the British doxed a ship full of tea in the Boston harbor, the colonists had to do something. They decided to dress up as Indians to dump the tea overboard. At the end of the night they ended up dumping over 340 chest of tea.
  • When the colonies had finally had enough  of the British they called  together  the first continental congress.    The 1st continental  congress   was a meeting of delegates from twelve of the Thirteen Colonies. They met to write a  letter to the British government a that there were going to boycott their goods until their demands where met.
