Storyboard Text

  • Perspective and Motivation
  • I will kill anyone who insults my family.
  • I will kill that old man so that eye doesn't haunt me.
  • Claim
  • I am more justified in my killing.
  • Textual Evidence
  • Would you care to join me for some wine.
  • Sure why not.
  • Montresor's perspective is that family is everything and after he went to give fortunato some Amontillado and he made fun of his family he chained him and trapped him in a wall. The Narrator's perspective is that the old man's eye is evil. This pushes him to kill the man so that the eye wouldn't trouble him anymore.
  • Analysis
  • I had a better reason to kill him.
  • Montresor was more justified by his actions.
  • Counter Claim
  • According to most people I have a better reason for killing him.
  • Some evidence that shows this is "Hastily, I began to a wall up the entrance to the space." Also, "...no mortal has disturbed them. May he rest in peace."
  • Wrap Up
  • I have been revenged.
  • This shows that Montresor was justified more because he built a wall with Fortunado trapped in it. The story never said that he got caught so he was very successful in what he did. Also the narator got caught for what he did.
  • The Narrator had more justice from killing the old man. Some evidence that shows this is "There was no pulsation. He was stone dead. His eye would trouble me no more.
  • In the story the "Cask of Amontillado" Montresor killed a man because he insulted his family. In "The Tell Tall Heart" the narrator killed a man because the man's eye was troubling him.
  • No I have been revenged.
