Oh well that's nice but actually, we are going to name this land La Isla Española.
Welcome! We are the Taino people and this land is called Ayti
In the late 15th century, Christopher Columbas planned to sail across the unknown Atlantic sea in hope to reach Asia. His plan was unsupported by England and Spain because of his faulty math but he soon found support in Spanish monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella.
This settlement is amazing but now I must leave for more money from Spain.
Columbus set sail on August 3, 1492, with his crew in 3 ships, the Santa Maria, Nina, and Pinta. The crews sailed for just over 2 months when they found land, not in Asia, but in a seemingly new world.
During the sail from Spain to Ayti, one of Columbus's ships, the Santa Maria was wrecked. Columbas and the Taino people used the wreckage and built a settlement.
Well done on the discovery of the new land! We will fund your next voyage, this time with more ships and resources.
The settlement was buit with the wreckage of the Santa Maria and was called La Navidad. But soon Columbas planned to go back to Spain but decided to leave some of his Spaniards in La Navidad.
While Columbas was away back to Spain, his Spaniards no soon took advantage of their power and enslaved the Taino woman to do domestic work.
Meanwhile, Christopher Columbus was sailing back to Spain for more funds. With him, he brought spices, parrots, and slaves. He was greeted with cheering for his "great discovery", although he never did follow through with what he promised, gold, and a faster route to India.
