  • The American Revolution began in 1775 when the American colonists were tired of the British government forcing taxes on them.
  • The Boston Tea party was a political protest that occurred on December 16, 1773, at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. American colonists were mad at the British for imposing “taxation without representation” and dumped 342 chests of British tea into the harbour.
  • Get rid of all the tea!
  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord kicked off the American Revolution on April 19, 1775. During nighttime on April 18, 1775 hundreds of British troops came to Concord to capture an arms cache.  The American Colonists attacked in alarm and the British returned fire. This started the American Revolution also known as the Revolutionary War. 
  • We want independence!
  • Ya!
  • The Battle of Bunker took place on June 17, 1775. The British wanted to take over Bunker Hill and the Americans tried to stop them and fail. The Britsh took over and won the Battle.
  • Too, bad we want it!
  • This is our land.
  • Yay!! We won!!
  • On December 31, 1775, the Americans tried to capture a British-occupied city of Quebec. The attack failed and it was the first major defeat for the Americans. This was known as the Battle of Quebec.
  • On December 25, 1776, General George Washington’s Army went to Delaware and won two battles for the Americans. The Battles were called The Battles of Trenton and Princetown and the Americans won them in 10 days.
