Storyboard Text

  • The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe
  • *direct quotes from poem in italics
  • *Once upon a midnight dreary, while reading sleepily,     suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently   rapping...at my chamber door. "It must be a visitor at    my door," I said, Only this and nothing more.
  • After much worry and debating, wondering whether it was the spirit of my long, lost love Lenore, I resolved,    *surely that is something at my window lattice;  Let me see, what thereat is, and this mystery  explore...
  • Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt   and flutter, In there stepped a stately Raven...and in the oddness of the situation, I had the strangest sensation which caused me to smile and ask the bird's  name.
  • Quoth the Raven "Nevermore."  Though I did not expect the bird to speak, it troubled me more to find it only spoke that one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour. I hoped he would leave, but instead he                repeated "Nevermore."
  • I began to become worried that this was would be never ending if I didn't stop this evil creature, but he only continued his repetition of"Nevermore." And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting...  And my soul from out that shadow lies floating on the floor,          Shall be lifted--nevermore!
