One day, Mary was walking down the street.
Then she tripped on the sidewalk and cut her knee open.
Mary's brain detects the problem through receptors on the skin and signals the effectors to fix the problem.
Once a blood vessel is ruptured or damaged, platelets will start to sling to the injured sight to stop blood flow and clot the opening.
Platelets will release chemicals that will attract more platelets to the sight until the blood is successfully clotted and bleeding has stopped.
Through positive feedback, Mary's knee is no longer bleeding!
