Storyboard Text

  • One day, Mary was walking down the street.
  • platelets
  • blood cells
  • Then she tripped on the sidewalk and cut her knee open.
  • Mary's brain detects the problem through receptors on the skin and signals the effectors to fix the problem.
  • Once a blood vessel is ruptured or damaged, platelets will start to sling to the injured sight to stop blood flow and clot the opening.
  • Platelets will release chemicals that will attract more platelets to the sight until the blood is successfully clotted and bleeding has stopped.
  • Through positive feedback, Mary's knee is no longer bleeding!
