Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America. He did not like how slaves were used in the United States, so he was an abolitionist. Sadly, on April 14, 1856, he was assassinated by a man name John Wilkes Booth.
Advantage For North
Ulysses S. Grant was a military leader of the North. He was also the 18th president of the United States of America. He commanded the Union Army during the Civil War. William T. Sherman was also another military leader of the North while Robert E. Lee was for the South.
A Lost For The South
I hate the North!
There is no use of growing this if we won't trade it.
Both the North and the South had their strategies in saving their country. The North decided to create a blockade to prevent the South from trading with other nations. This was called the "Anaconda Plan". This was a good plan because it would cause the South to surrender everything and they will eventually lose.
Disadvantage Of North
How will we work on this unfamiliar land? Hmm?
The North (Union) had many advantages during the Civil War. One advantage would be their built-in factories. These factories were used to make clothing, boots, and weapons. This would get them a huge amount of money and help them create more items. The factories would be a great victory to help them win the war because the are a huge part in order for them to be successful.
The South had a good advantage that the North took. One of it would be that they were an agricultural society. They had good climate and land that made it possible to grow crops such as tobacco, cotton, rice, and corn. But, Since the North created the Anaconda Plan, it was impossible to trade their crops for money or other items.
Even though the North had their advantages, they also had their disadvantages. A disadvantage for the North would be conquering a large territory they are unfamiliar with. This also affected them because some of these Northerners were unskilled, so it was hard.
