  • WHAT?! What do you mean we have no more MONEY!?
  • I am sorry, my King. That French and Indian War was very expensive.
  • So.. We need a way to make money from the colonists, then.
  • Oh, and I have plan. We will tax them!! We'll tax them on goods they use, like sugar, paper goods, and even glass!
  • We will NOT pay taxes that are UNFAIR!! Sugar prices are too high and so is our RUM!!
  • After the French and Indian War, Britain was in debt due to spending its money on winning the war.
  • So the King and Parliament come up with a way to make their money back by taxing the colonists.
  • In 1763, the King George III and Parliament pass the Sugar Act, trying to force colonists to buy British sugar and stopping smugglers.
