Lupe has many trophies but no trophies in sports, and she is sad that she has not won any. Her many trophies have led to her to meeting the mayor. Also she won the blue ribbon award for reading three years in a row. Even with these honors, Lupe is still sad that she has never won an award in sports.
Knowing she was sad, Lupe's brother introduced her to marbles. They both thought that she could win the championship. She also knew that her parents would let herplay in the match because she really wanted to win a sport.
That night, Lupe started to practice for the championship that was only two weeks away. She started with twenty finger push-ups and squeezed an eraser one-hundred times. This helped her blast the marbles and helped her beat her brother.
Lupe was ready. She started her tournament strong wining game after game. She felt on top of the world. Her thumb was big and swollen from the training and battling.
As the rounds kept going, the opponents got harder. Also the scores got closer as she flew up the rankings. Next, it was the final round where she was against the last female. If she won, she would play the winner of the boys bracket.
She had beaten the final girl and she had won the girls' bracket! She went on to easily win against the champion of the boys' bracket winner by seven points. Her dad was so happy for her and knew that she worked the hardest to win the championship.
