Athenian Wedding Storyboard
This storyboard does not have a description.
Firstly, the young bride would go to sacrifice all of her childhood toys and a lock of hair to the goddess' Aphrodite and Artemis, to show that she was leaving her childhood behind.
Then it was the wedding ceremony, the groom would give the bride a ring and
people from the families would bring gifts for the married couple.
Then the groom would pick up the bride and put her in a cart, taking her to his home,
Once they arrived he would burn the Axle to show that there was no going back.
There would be a big feast in the grooms household and both members of the family would be invited.
After dinner, the newly wed bride would have a bath, that was meant to clean her sole and enhances her fertility.
Later that night, the new married couple would be locked in a room and their friends would band on the door and shout,
Do Not Enter
this was for support and encouragement as the bride was about to loose her virginity.
